In October 1972, the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Anne paid a state visit to Yugoslavia. For their arrival in Belgrade, the Queen wore a royal blue felt cap with white visor and crisscross trim. You can see great video footage of this hat here.

Today’s Hat #47 reminds me of a half-deflated football. Here’s another another sports related hat:

I was thinking a New York Yankees ballcap myself . . .
The back view in the video is really something: the cross-stitched trim on the front is kind of fun, but carrying it all the way to the back is a bit much. Mrs. Tito’s hat is quite royal-worthy.
Kudos to you, HatQueen, for this series! I’m amazed at how many unfamiliar hats you’ve discovered! Really enjoying the retrospective.
Well, it’s erm… different! Reminds me of this stunner which is still 10 years away at this point. Embed from Getty Images
I thought the very same thing!
I’m not too sure about this peaked cap style. It seems rather austere and overdone for Queen Elizabeth. But perhaps appropriate for this visit. I would have preferred the peak just to be blue.
