The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this hat was Queen Letizia’s hat that she wore to the coronation! ha!
These are not “samurai” costumes, these are rickshaw boy costumes, bearer boy costumes. You can still see figures dressed in these costumes today at the major Tokyo tourist site, Asakusa.
