Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence attended the third day of racing, Sir Timothy in his black silk hat. Princess Anne wore an ivory design with shallow crown and split brim folded up at the back that has been in her wardrobe for several decades. I like the shape of this brim and liked the light hat contrasted with her emerald suit. In person, it was a sharp look for her.

I’m going against the flow and say I’m not a fan. This hat is too dated and too plain for Ascot IMO, and while I’m all for mixing and matching hats and outfits, I would’ve liked to see this outfit’s original emerald green hat again.
I love this outfit, a fabulous recycle. The Princess looks splendid.
I agree and well done for finding the 1995 photo. It’s a timeless elegant hat that suits The Princess Royal. She looks beautiful standing beside Zara in her cream lace dress.
