Ascot 2023 Day 4: Princess Beatrice

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi returned to Ascot Racecourse for the fourth day of racing. Edo wore his very fine black antique silk top hat.

Princess Beatrice topped the most exquisite lace dress with a hat described by its designer as an “ivory and silver sparkle sinamay disc with silk flower detail.”

The gently waved shape highlights the hat’s twist and silk flower trim, giving a little movement and interest to the piece without making a loud statement. With the dress, it’s such a pretty combination.

  1. It’s a nice enough look for Beatrice, but it doesn’t excite me for some reason.

However, Edoardo’s sky blue waistcoat is fantastic, and his top hat looks quite exquisite as well; bonus points for wearing a knit tie for something different (although unfortunately his collar was a bit wonky on the carriage ride in).

  2. I agree, this is one of my favourite looks ever for Princess Beatrice. The beautiful hat, in size and colour, compliments the gorgeous dress perfectly.

  3. Beatrice looks beautiful again. I think I’d like the hat to be a little bigger, but it lets the dress be the star, which is fair enough.

  4. The dress and hat make a complete whole together. They compliment each other beautifully. Nothing against the hat, but I didn’t see any silver threads or sparkle from it as the description indicates. Maybe you have to see it in person to notice that aspect of it.

  5. I think its a beautiful hat, and for me its one of her best all-time looks with that gorgeous dress. As its such a versatile hat, being in a neutral colour, I hope we see it again soon
