King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark boarded the royal yacht Dannebrog from Nordre Toldbod waterfront in Copenhagen yesterday, officially launching this year’s cruise season.
Queen Mary wore a new headpiece, described by the milliner as a “felt headpiece with veil and feather details.”

This is the first piece Queen Mary has worn from Maggie Mowbray Millinery and it’s fantastic to see her branching out with new milliners. The scale of this piece gives it great presence, as does the overlay trimming of feather-studded wide-weave veil. The overall look is a more sophisticated take on nautical dressing and I’m a fan.
Milliner: “Helena” design by Maggie Mowbray Millinery.
Previously Worn: This is new.
King Frederik was in the smart uniform and cap of his naval uniform.

Yes, a lovely look for Mary, and it’s nice to see this bandeau being a bit more substantial than some. I, for some reason, assumed the sailing season was something Margrethe personally chose to do and that it wouldn’t necessarily continue with the next generation, but I’m glad to see that’s not the case. It’ll be interesting to see what future outfits and hats will be chosen for these cruises.
Mary really is leaning into a chic yet businesslike approach with her Queenly wear, mixing up existing and new pieces so well. Love that she’s not gone and splurged on a whole new wardrobe. She looks fab. This hat and dress combo is incredibly elegant.
Very pretty new hat for Queen Mary and a lovely overall look .
How nice to see Mary in some new millinery wear! I thought this looked exceptionally good with her hair in a refined ponytail and in contrast to her navy dress! I hope this becomes a tradition! The veil is what made this look classy to me.
I really like the nautical navy and white. She is very beautifully turned out. If you click on the link for the milliner’s design “Helena” several close-up shots show just how nice this headpiece is.
