And they’re off! We kick off this week’s hat extraveganza at Ascot Racecourse with King Charles and Queen Camilla. The king repeated his black antique silk top hat, adding some fashion personality with a buttercup waistcoat and blue tie.

Queen Camilla eschewed her go-to neutrals for a vibrant ensemble in cobalt blue. The new hat features a tall, angled crown and an upfolded brim on one side with a wide padded hatband sandwiched between wired silk bands.

The colour is magnificent, as is the scale on Camilla. I’m less a fan of the chunky hatband, which seems a little at odds with the more delicate lace trim on her coat and dress.

Royal Hats 
It has been surprisingly nice to see Charles wear different colored waistcoats! There is so little men can change about their everyday looks when wearing suits, but Charles found a way! Maybe they can start betting on what color of waistcoat the King will be wearing as well as the color of the Queen’s hats!
Beautiful colour but the crown is slightly reminiscent of the “Sorting Hat”!
I love the colour of this hat and at first glance I thought it was stunning, but, looking at it properly, the proportion and shape of the crown is unfortunate and detracts from the elegance of the rest of QC’s outfit.
Awesome Royal blue on Camilla! I don’t mind the hatband at all, giving the hat more dimension and pizazz.
King’s waistcoat is wonderful, and his striped shirt is great also. Will his tie match Camilla’s hat tomorrow?
The colour of the Queen’s hat is wonderful, however, the design is not. It looks as if three hats were placed on top of each other.
Be nice if she changed the hat colours every days .
Very much a fan of Camilla in this lovely regal blue for Ascot. I don’t mind her neutrals but this is a lovely contrast, and that hat is quite spectacular. I’ve said it before, she can wear these enormous cartwheel hats like few others can. Fantastic.
So, do we think??? That Queen Camilla will carry on the tradition of wearing various colors of hats on the days of Royal Ascot so that the betting on the “color of the Queen’s hat” will continue? I’ve never known the Queen to wear a color this saturated and she looks fantastic in it! And she’s wearing the incredible Prince Albert sapphire and diamond brooch. Love, love, love!
Also, I have to say, what in the world in going on with the King? Wearing colored waistcoats with the gray morning suit (he’s done this earlier this year at two garden parties with pink and powder blue) – my, oh my, again I say, love, love, love.
If you had asked me this question after the third day of Ascot last year, I would have said, “No way” (cue sad face). Dare I be hopeful this year?!
The King’s hat won’t change (understandably) but I am here for a rainbow array of waistcoats!
