Ascot 2024 Day 2: Gloucesters & Kents

For the second day of racing today, the Duke of Gloucester repeated a grey felt top hat while the Duchess repeated the pale oyster pinokpok circle bandeau she first wore last weekend for Trooping the Colour. Photos today show a veil over the open crown of this headpiece, a feature that makes it look like a modern snood.

  1. I think the netting “finishes” Birgitte’s open crown hat and to my eye makes it more successful. The Countess’ hat is nice but looks a bit dated now, maybe it’s due for a refresh & update.

  2. A lot of blush pink and white today. Like, Gigi, I’m not a fan of either hat. Birgitte looks so much better in colorful ensembles.

  3. I don’t generally care for open crown hats, but I like it much better with the netting in it. Overall this outfit on the DoGlo isn’t a favorite but her jewels were so yummy I don’t even care. And I’m happy to get a better view of the hat.

  4. The gray on Brigitte is blah. The other hat is a huge thumbs down as she seems to not be able to see past the oversized trim. Not a fan of this duo.
