Dutch Queen Opens Women’s Health Center

Queen Máxima opened a new endometriosis center at the Reinier de Graaf hospital today in Delft. For the occasion, she wore a new hat.

  1. It’s a wonderfully striking hat. One can see why feathers were chosen, they allow a far more intricate and varied colour palette than one could get with fabric (and I agree, it would go with several outfits in Maxima’s wardrobe). I suspect the texture is also interesting in real life, although that doesn’t come across so much in photos.

  2. I do not often comment, but I always read the comments. Much of what I know about hats I have learned from Hat Queen and others here. I am glad you are back HQ and “long may you reign”.

I think this hat elevates and connects the entire outfit. I look forward to seeing it with something classic and less “frou frou” in autumn colours.

  3. Such a stunning and beautifully constructed hat. Alas is a bit overshadowed with all those ruffles, with a plain dress and a sleek hairstyle this will really shine.

  4. It’s a beautiful hat with a great color scheme for a Dutch queen and for autumn. I just wish she had worn her hair in a low chignon.

  5. Maxima would be well advised to heed Coco Chanel’s advice about removing things before going out. The ruffled shirt is too much. And alas, with Maxima, it’s frequently an issue with the hair. The hat, however, is very nice.

  6. I love the feathers! She will get a lot of wear out of it because it matches well with orange and neutral tones, both of which she wears regularly. I think it would work better with a less ruffley shirt, which would keep the focus on the intricate feather design. As is, it seems a little busy.
