Princess Beatrice and her husband, Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi, who wore a black silk top hat, were in attendance today at Ascot Racecourse.
Princess Beatrice wore an ecru sinamay sidesweep saucer hat trimmed with matching silk abaca bow beneath the raised side of the hat.

The gold-tinged hat and accessories make an unexpected pairing with the green patterned dress but one that works well. The hat is also great colour and scale on Beatrice.

King Charles and Queen Camilla led today’s royal carriage parade again, the king in his black silk top hat (and another pastel waistcoat!).

Queen Camilla wore another new wide brimmed hat, this one in palest seafoam green. This design is all about ostrich feathers, which completely encircle the hat’s crown, filling the full width of the brim.

The hat’s inherant drama is slightly tempered by it’s soft colour, which Camilla wears so well. The pairing of voluminous, textural hat and sleek dress and coat also are a fine match.

Princess Zahra Aga Khan was part of today’s carriage procession in an ecru straw hat with wide cartwheel brim, trimmed by plum silk curling bows and feathers. Fantastic!

The Duke of Devonshire rode in the King and Queen’s carriage; the Duke wore a black silk top hat while the Duchess wore a fuchsia domed pillbox wrapped with purple, royal blue and bright pink dyed Lady Amherst feathers.

The Earl of Snowdon, Daniel Chatto and Lady Sarah Chatto were all included in today’s carriage procession. The Earl repeated a black top hat.
Daniel also repeated a black top hat. Sarah wore a new hat in vibrant blue with a wide floppy brim made of sewn polyester braid. It feels too casual for the races and I wish she’d repeated this one, worn with this same dress, instead.
