Final Day of Danish Summer Cruise

For the final stop today on the 2014 summer tour aboard the royal yacht Dannebrog, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik sailed to Vesthimmerlands Kommune. For their trip ashore to the town of Aars, Queen Margrethe repeated the red straw hat with daisy trim, nautical flag printed dress and red blazer we saw her wear in Ringkøbing on Wednesday. We have seen this hat enough times that there is nothing new to add… I suppose the only thing to say is how fun it is to see the royal couple clearly having a marvelous time.

Danish Royals Commemorate Flag Day

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended Flag Day commemorations today, honoring and remembering Danish military who served abroad, were wounded or lost their lives in service. For this event, Princess Mary repeated her tan straw calot hat with side looped bow. It is not the first hat I would have instinctively pared with her ensemble but it added a light touch to the whole look and coordinated well with her skirt. Her hairstyle certainly showed off the hat well. This is the fourth ensemble we have seen paired with this hat- hop over to this post to discuss which pairing is your favourite.

Danish Couple in Nykøbing

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik of Denmark cruised on to Nykøbing today, where they again came ashore for a visit. Margrethe swapped out the band around the crown of her trusty straw hat for one in red and navy plaid to match her skirt. This really is the perfect hat for a summer sail and I can’t find fault in her wearing it so often during this cruise. What is interesting to see is how much Margrethe mixes and matches her wardrobe- we saw this hat on Monday this week and the red blazer on Tuesday. I often think of royals as having limitless fashion and millinery possibilities on any given day but this shows us that when it comes to vacation wardrobes, this Danish queen probably packs just like the rest of us.

Danish Royal Couple Sail To Livo

The second leg of Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik’s summer cruise continued today with a stop in Livo Harbour. For this very casual trip to shore, the Queen wore jeans and a bright red headscarf. I don’t believe there is any fashion commentary to be made about the headscarf and am posting this just to celebrate the relaxed nature of this event. Can you remember the last time you saw a queen in jeans? I also love that Queen Margrethe matched her headscarf to her socks. Her sense of fashion includes a healthy sense of humour which is so much fun to see.

Danish Royals Sail On To Region Midtjylland

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik of Denmark sailed on to the Port of Hvide Sande yesterday, where they disembarked the royal yacht Dannebrog for a visit to Ringkøbing. For this day ashore, Queen Margrethe repeated her red straw hat with embroidered ribbon daisy trim. While she matched her hat to her suit jacket just as she did on Monday, I thought yesterday’s pairing felt much more stylish thanks to the more tailored jacket and the more interesting shape of the hat. What do you think of this ensemble?
