Princess Benedikte of Denmark is celebrating her 69th birthday today. Benedikte, the younger sister of Queen Margrethe, performs a number of royal duties and attends numerous royal functions in Denmark (we saw her in a lovely red hat at one of her royal visits just last week) so we see her in hats several times each year. One of my favourite hats is this navy blue straw hat with mushroom brim and white straw piping she wore in May 2007 to welcome the Swedish Royal Family on a state visit. There has been some discussion on this blog recently about what hats are most elegant for a more mature hat wearer and I think this hat fits the bill beautifully.

Royal Hats 
It’s too big and too low but the colour is good and I like that pop of lipstick.
All I see is a giant mushroom when I look at this hat. Not good.
I dunno. something about that hat makes it look like she has a huge bulging forehead.
