Sixty-eight years ago today, the British Royal Family appeared with Sir Winston Churchill on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to celebrate V-E Day.
Fifty years later (eighteen years ago today), Queen Elizabeth, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret recreated that balcony scene. Much can be said about these iconic moments in British history. I’m just fascinated by how little the Queen Mum’s hat changed during those 50 years.

I didn’t know today was VE day. These balcony pictures are amazing. Such history. The Queen Mum’s hats are both beautiful on her. I expecially like the yellow one. She always wore pastels and looked so romantic.
Looking at the Queen Mum makes me smile. She found a hat style that worked for her. Why change?
I think her style transcends fashion
I’m sorry to say that Princess Margaret’s hat looks like a crane’s nest.
My goodness those three ladies look so pretty. Queen Lizabeth must shore be missing her mama and Margaret Rose.
