Dutch Royals Embark on State Visit to Germany

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands began a three day state visit to Germany today. During their first event, meeting  President Joachim Gauck and Germany first lady Daniela Schadt at Bellevue Palace in Berlin, there was no mistaking these royals as representing the House of Orange.

Queen Máxima wore a slightly smaller twin of the hat she wore last week, this time in pumpkin orange.

I feel like a broken record when it comes to Máxima’s hats but here goes: it’s a bold look and a LOT of orange on one person but she carried it off very well. If I had to choose a favourite between this hat and it’s twin last week, I’d choose the size and scale of this hat with the natural coloured straw of the other hat.  What do you think of this  hat?

  1. Queen Maxima looks great, the brim on her hat sits back to show her happy smile. I like the way her hair curls around her face under the hat and her whole outfit including the gloves is beautifully colour co-ordinated – love it!

  2. This queen shore does like her hat’s! LOL! It looks fine enough except for the brim part being too far up. I like it better when the brims are down like a regular hat. Her hairs looks nice tho.

    • I agree. These brims heading off in all directions are tiresome. It is, however, very nice to see a Queen wear apricot. It is one of my favourite colours but the young royals don’t seem to wear it much.

  3. The hat and top are too much orange for me. It’s an excellent shade of orange on Maxima but I’m not a fan. Her skirt, however, is GORGEOUS!
