Princess Beatrix Celebrates Orphanage’s Quadricentennial

Princess Beatrix visited Weeshuis (Orphanage House) in Buren yesterday to celebrate the orphanage’s 400th anniversary. Despite the rainy weather (she is seen below unveiling a commemorative statue in the garden), Beatrix looked quite radiant in one of her single tiered donut hats. This one, in navy straw, featured a domed center crown plopped on top of her regular rounded, oversize pillbox forms. This style of hat is not one of my favourites but it is her signature and it somehow works on Beatrix. Hat complaints aside, I did think she looked beautiful in navy.

  1. She is such a beautiful lady. I always love to see which hat she has chosen to wear, and I love this hat on her. That being said, I do not think I would like this hat on anyone else. Her matching cape is simply gorgeous! Blue is a very good color choice for Princess Beatrix.

    • Yes. Queen Beatrix always looks so happy and her hats really suit her. Navy is such a classic color and she looks very good in blue.

  2. I wonder why she likes that style so much. I wish someone would photoshop some different hat styles on her to see how they would look. Would love to see that.
