Queen Máxima Opens Tech Facility

Lely Group, an international producer of ground-breaking innovations for the agricultural sector, welcomed Queen Máxima  to officially open their new campus in Maasslius this morning. For this opening, she repeated her charcoal grey hat with dramatic upturned brim. The photos today give us a better view of this hat- I think it is more striking from the back and side than it is from the front. Máxima paired this hat with a monochrome grey ensemble that read a little flat to me, although I love that her coat was lined with the same mini hounds tooth fabric as her dress. What do you think of this hat and outfit together?

  1. She looks fantastic, the hat is perfect with the outfit. I really like her jewelry – the earrings are beautiful and the bracelets add a little bit of color, the only color really, to the outfit.

  2. She looks a bit tired. Maybe the make-up? But her hair is lovely, earrings terrific! I appreciate seeing the hat from different angles. I like it.

  3. And THAT is how a young queen’s day ensemble should be done. This hat, dress and coat is elegant, attractive and completely appropriate for a Queen attending this kind off event. Thank heavens she reemployed her hairdresser. I am so pleased with this look I am willing to overlook the shoes. They are still better than anything we have seen on the Duchess of Cambridge’s feet.

  4. It’s great to see this hat from all angles. Thanks, HatQueen, for such great photos (as always!). I like the hat and the dress and coat but like a few others here, I think the whole look is ruined by the shoes.

  5. The hat looks like it weighs a lot but I do like it. The shoes are too light – they might have worked better with nude hose. And I agree with Bristol – a pop of colour would have perked up this outfit. I’d give this a 7 out of 10.

  6. I cannot be a fan of this hat – the way the crown of the hat is a tall bulb that is pushed over her head is not appealing. It looks best from the front. I do like the texture of the material.

  7. Ah, dramatic and yet very simple – a good design! I like the outfit overall too, although perhaps just a touch of colour would have lifted it – a red handbag or shoes, perhaps?

  8. This in an usual hat, appearing very different from different angles. The tilt at which it was worn on 5 Oct 13 makes it look totally different from today’s wearing, and the side view isn’t what I was expecting after having seen its front view. Today’s is a striking outfit.

  9. the hat and the entire outfit ,benefit from an up-close view. where you can see the differnt patterns. I do like the hat better from a side view or back than straight on the front. Never, but never like shoes lighter in color than the stockings.

    • Jean I was getting ready to rave over her “entire look” until I saw your comment about her shoes! So now I like everything except the shoes! I do like this hat and her outfit. She also did a good job with her hair…I do not like hair that just “hangs.”
