Crown Princess Mary of Denmark celebrates her 42nd birthday today. While Mary’s millinery partnership with Danish designer Susanne Juul has been very successful, I would love to see her break out of her streamlined aesthetic and have more fun with hats. I would also love to see her showcase some Australian designers. The hat I would love to see on Crown Princess Mary is this apricot straw pillbox with curled bow, designed by Australian milliner Greer McDonald. It’s a fun hat that I think would be marvelous on Mary.

The most popular royal hat designer last year was Fabienne Delvgine. However, Mary does not wear her hats. This would be a nice change for 2014! I prefer the third hat here in white straw for Mary.

I love Rachel Trevor Morgan hats! My favorite dress Princess Mary ever wore was the red dress she wore for the banquet just before her wedding. She looked incredible in that dress with the ruby jewels. I wish she would wear red more so I’m choosing a red hat for her!
