Milestone Birthday: Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie

Princess Stéphanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg celebrates her 30th birthday today. Since joining the Luxembourg Royal Family in 2012, we have seen Princess Stéphanie in just six royal hats.

My favourite is the pale blue brimmed design for National day last year, above. Which design stands out most to you? What styles and millinery would you like to see Princess Stéphanie try?

  1. Mr Fitzroy continues to be SO IMPRESSED by the hat suggestions the commenters present for birthdays…..some really lovely options.
It seems the main thing for the Hereditary Grand Duchess is to really start to establish her own millenary style. If one reviews the sequence of 2012/13 hat selections HatQueen has so thoughtfully assembled — it appears she has raided the hat closets of a wide range of European royals:
first, the fussier side of Queen Silvia, then one of Princess Eugenie’s little mashed hats, a classic Princess Beatrix cake, The Princess of Hanover dramatique, one from Queen Elizabeth via A. Kelly, and some strange Mathilde/Beatrice hybrid! But none of those really say Stephanie. It takes some time to get one’s hat footing, as it were, but she will likely find her muse!

    • I completely agree. While I love Fabienne Delvigne’s designs, I would love to see Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie find a young up and coming designer to establish a relationship with and develop her own style.

  2. The Hereditary Grand Duchess is Belgian born and will wear more Fabienne Delvigne hats like Grand Duchess Maria Teresa I think. I wish she would have a style like we see on Queen Mathilde in the past year.
