Milestone Birthday of Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie

Princess Stéphanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg celebrates her 30th birthday today. Since joining the Luxembourg Royal Family in 2012, we have seen Princess Stéphanie in just six royal hats.

My favourite was the first hat we saw her wear, a Fabienne Delvigne design borrowed from her future mother-in-law. For the most part, I think Princess Stéphanie’s hats have been too large for her, especially during these first years of her royal life. I would love to see her in a lighter and more delicate cocktail hat such as the “Kitty” model by Cappellino Millinery. Wouldn’t this be an exquisite breath of fresh millinery air for this young Hereditary Grand Duchess?!

Kitty Cappellino MillineryI can’t wait to see what hats you all will suggest for Princess Stéphanie! Please share links in the comments and credit the designer of any hat you suggest.

  1. Mr Fitzroy continues to be SO IMPRESSED by the hat suggestions the commenters present for birthdays…..some really lovely options.
It seems the main thing for the Hereditary Grand Duchess is to really start to establish her own millenary style. If one reviews the sequence of 2012/13 hat selections HatQueen has so thoughtfully assembled — it appears she has raided the hat closets of a wide range of European royals:
first, the fussier side of Queen Silvia, then one of Princess Eugenie’s little mashed hats, a classic Princess Beatrix cake, The Princess of Hanover dramatique, one from Queen Elizabeth via A. Kelly, and some strange Mathilde/Beatrice hybrid! But none of those really say Stephanie. It takes some time to get one’s hat footing, as it were, but she will likely find her muse!

    • I completely agree. While I love Fabienne Delvigne’s designs, I would love to see Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie find a young up and coming designer to establish a relationship with and develop her own style.

    • I chose this hat for one of the royals a few weeks back. It’s such a great hat. Both of these pink berets are.

    • As pretty as this hat is, I think I have to agree that a smaller hat would be better for her. I love the one that HatQueen chose. That is a gorgeous hat.

  2. The Hereditary Grand Duchess is Belgian born and will wear more Fabienne Delvigne hats like Grand Duchess Maria Teresa I think. I wish she would have a style like we see on Queen Mathilde in the past year.
