Queen Elizabeth Enjoys Horse Show

Queen Elizabeth stepped out again yesterday for the Royal Windsor Horse Show. To present a number of fair prizes, she wore a dove grey lampshade style hat with a light lattice patterned straw brim. I like the idea of this hat although the colour is a little too pale and the wide bands around the crown and brim edge lend a rather heavy hand to this hat and seem at odds with the light brim. I’m also not sure about the top stitching on both the hat and the coat (see the visible stitches around the hat crown and coat collar?). What do you think of this hat?

Designer: unknown. It looks like Angela Kelly to me

Prince Harry Commemorates Battle of Monte Cassino

Prince Harry arrived in Italy yesterday for a two day visit where he will attend a number of events commemorating the Allied Campaign during WWII, focussing on the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino. Today, he laid a memorial wreath at the Cassino Commonwealth War Cemetery. As expected, he was in his British Army dress uniform complete with smart hat.

Princes Participate in Carriage Driving at Royal Windsor Horse Fair

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was spotted driving a carriage through the grounds of Windsor Castle last Friday on the third day of the Royal Windsor Horse Show. He wore a light and uncharacteristically casual spring hat for this ride.

Yesterday, Prince Philip was again spotted at the reigns of a carriage, although in more formal and traditional attire. He wears this light fedora very well, doesn’t he?

Prince Michael of Kent joined in the carriage driving fun, also in a light cream fedora.

Phillips Family Enjoys the Royal Windsor Horse Show

Peter and Autumn Phillips attended the Royal Windsor Horse show yesterday with their young daughters, Savannah and Isla. It looks like a marvelous time was had by the young Phillips girls, both who wore light, floppy and very cute summer hats.

Norwegian Royal Family Celebrates National Day

Members of the Norwegian Royal Family appeared in National Dress yesterday to celebrate their national holiday. King Harald and Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway appeared on the balcony of the royal palace in Oslo while Princess Martha Louise and her family joined in the Norwegian Constitution Day Parade in London. The King and Prince Haakon wore morning suits with traditional black silk top hats while the women all wore the woven headband-style headpieces that are part of Norwegian national costume. They made a colourful and very festive group, didn’t they?
