Fall 2014 in Royal Hats

Royal HatsBack in August, we took a peek at the recently released Autumn/Winter 2014 hat collections from Gina Foster and Rachel Trevor Morgan. Here is another beautiful new collection from popular royal hat designer, Jane Taylor.

Designer: Jane Taylor Autumn Winter 2014
Synopsis: While the collection includes sculpted discs, large saucers, and a mix of hat shapes (in addition to the pillbox and fedora above, there is a turban and a wide headband), it is anchored by Taylor’s signature beret-base cocktail hats. There is a mix of materials- straw, beaded silk, velvet and lace- although most of the collection is in velour felt. Black, navy and purple predominate with hits of olive, forest green and burgundy. In contrast to the dark hues is trim with lots of sparkle, making the collection reminiscent of a clear sky on a cold winter night. It is glamorous, sparkling and chic
Royals likely to wear these designs:  Certainly, the Countess of Wessex (she wore a bespoke, summery version of the Topaz hat at Ascot ). Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, the Duchess of Cambridge and Zara Phillips also regularly turn to Jane Taylor for hats. I think the Monel would be lovely on Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie and I would love to see one of the young British royals wear the Shooting Star (top left) for Christmas.

Are there any hats here that tickle your fancy?

  1. Oh Dear Hat Queen, would that I had the money and the occasions for all of these hats!! They are so lovely and perfect for all my nonexistent winter clothing (living in Florida as I do)! Thank you, as always, for bringing them to yes!

  2. The only one I don’t like is the fedora….all the rest are lovely! Makes me wish I had more dress hat occasions, for sure. I still also prefer a big proper hat but I do love how these sparkle!

  3. Oh, what a wonderful pillbox with the peacock trimmings. I would love to see that on Mary. Mathilde and on Mette-Marit but only if M-M wore it as it is supposed to and not too far back.
