Queen Máxima has certainly embraced the modified toque hat as one of her go-to hat styles. When she debuted a new red toque last week for Prinsjesdag, I had a sense of deja vu and I suspect some of you did as well:

To be fair, the red gown and toque worn last week are a different shade of red than Máxima’s red suit (and required a matching hat). However, does it seem strange to you that Máxima has two red toques to go with her red suit? Click on each of the photographs above to take you to the original post covering these events (and confirmation that the first two toques are indeed, not the same toque!). All three hats were designed by Belgian Milliner, Fabienne Delvigne.
UPDATES: Máxima’s penchant for toque hats has continued with fourth and fifth red beauties added October 1, 2014 (below left) and March 20, 2015 (below right). While the fifth had could arguably be considered a turban, Queen Máxima wears it in the same way she wears her other toque hats- off her face, centered on the crown of her head like a calot hat. I think these two additions are due to colour and fabric matches- they both look to be custom made specifically to coordinate with certain dresses – and I am most amused to see two more come into circulation!
