Princess Stéphanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, celebrated her 31st birthday today and I’m sure you all join me in wishing her health and happiness in the coming year. We have not seen Stéphanie in very many hats since the start of her royal life and thus, choosing one I wish her to repeat this year is difficult. Instead of peeking in her millinery closet for this suggestion, there is a hat belonging to her mother-in-law that I would love to see Stéphanie wear- this natural straw picture hat designed by Jane Taylor. With an upturned brim and unique trimming of anenome flowers crafted from feathers, this is a light and delicate hat that I think would be beautiful on the Hereditary Grand Duchess.
Are there any hats from Luxembourgish royal closets that you would like to see Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wear over the next year?

Thanks HatQueen and I agree that the natural straw picture hat designed by Jane Taylor and belonging to her mother-in-law, would suit Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie also. However, I would like to see her develop her own unique millinery style, rather than borrowing from others. I am not a fan of her personal hats, however, I think the royal blue brimmed hat she wore for the closing procession of the Octave of Our Lady of Luxembourg, May 5, 2013 is appealing and suits her well. Blue is a good color for her fair coloring. Please see the links which show the hat from different angles.

I agree with what TiarasRUs says: February 20, 2015 at 2:20 pm. I also like the hat and outfit worn by Grand Duchess Maria Teresa in the above photo also.
I do like this blue hat and the suit too. The Grand Duchess’s hat is even better.

I loved the pale blue hat she wore for Luxembourg Day a few years ago. I just didn’t like it with her hair in a braid. Maybe a low bun on the side the way Queen Maxima wears her hair?

Katie I do agree that this hat shape and the pale blue color are good on Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie. However, I think there is a bit too much trim here and the side braid just looks weird and there is a bit of old rag wrapped around its tip. A chignon could have worked. The tweed coat looks too matronly for her I think.
You are right, there is so much trim Angela Kelly must have been visiting Luxembourg! That braid is just awful! But I do like her in blue.
I LOVE the hat you suggested but is this all we wish for this girl, her mother-in-law’s cast off hats???
The problem is I looked through her hats and there aren’t any that are really good. So here’s my solution- I take Steph shopping and we find her some serious hat style. KIDDING! But not on the shopping part. Steph needs to start over with her hats.

Agreed. This was not a great look for her. However, her second hat that day was a vast improvement and I would like to see it again. I think the Gina Foster headpiece that Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore at this same event last year would also be marvellous on Stéphanie (below right).
I don’t mind Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie’s off-white hat, but I think it was strange to wear it with a white dress and red coat. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa’s headpiece might look alright on Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie though the colour might not stand out in her blonde hair.
Emma I agree. This hat looked like crumpled fabric on her head and the bright pink of the coat replicated in the hat also looked too loud on her.The white flowers looked cheap to me and looked like randomly placed afterthoughts to match up the white dress.
I have never liked this pink and white hat. It looks too much like someone used a glue gun to attach some cheap craft store flowers.

I think a strong color would look good.. I was one who liked the brown felt cossack style hat on her so maybe the shape of this green one wouldn’t be quite right but the color might.
I searched for photos of Stephanie wearing a hat but couldn’t find ANY. I think this is a picture of her sister at her wedding and the pink hat is really pretty. I can totally see it on Steph.

Oh Hat Queen, that is one very beautiful hat and the HGD would look gorgeous in it. Thank You for showing this hat, I had not seen it before. HGD Stephanie would would certainly look very chic in that hat.
