On Sunday, Princess Hanako of Hitachi attended the World Equestrian Games which are currently under way in Kakegawa City. For this event, the princess, who is Honorary President of the Japanese Equestrian Federation, repeated the pale periwinkle blue hat we saw her wear just a few weeks ago. During its last outing, we caught a glimpse of the raised brim on the other side of the hat – a brim that made the hat look like a bowler. From this side, however, the hat follows a traditional cloche shape. I think we need to see a more complete view of this half-bowler-half-cloche to award a final verdict. Shape aside, the colour is lovely, isn’t it?

The periwinkle colour is perfect for her colouring and I would have preferred the entire suit to be in this colour.
From what I can see, I like the hat on her and think the colour is lovely. I think her suit is quite classic, and fits the occasion. However, I find that suit and hat jarring together, and I think its the mismatch of weight of their respective materials that’s causing the visual discord, to me.
I think the hat and suit worn by Princess Hanako are the same ones we saw a few weeks ago. The pale periwinkle blue color is so striking and elegant, and I like the fact that the hat looks bowler-style on one side and cloche-like on the other as it makes the hat interesting. The hat ties in with the matching color top or blouse, that peeks out from under her suit.
I like the suit. It appears to be a departure from the usual uniform-type suits that the female members of the royal family wear. The color of her hat is lovely, but from how she is photographed, I’m not fond of the style.
The colour is lovely – but from this picture it does not seem to go with the rest of her outfit.
I quite agree with you, the color is so beautiful and the rest of her outfit is so boring and dull. I like this style of hat, have quite a few of them.
Sorry, but I shall respectfully disagree. I think the suit looks rather stylish (with some rather tasteful fringing), and am seriously wondering whether it is the same one she wore with this hat at its previous outing. I think the hat is really quite bold and a lovely colour although if pushed I would say that it’s probably not be a perfect complement to the suit. Perhaps there is a hint of blue in the outfit that we are not quite picking up in the stills. I like it.
I think it is the same suit- while the photos are not clear, the fabric has the same nubby texture and you can see the fringe around the waist in both photos. I also really like this suit because of its classic Chanel feel. For all we know, it might be a Chanel suit!
