Swedish Royal Wedding

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and Sofia Hellqvist were married yesterday at the Royal Chapel in the Royal Palace in Stockholm. While this was the final Swedish royal wedding for a generation, it was a smaller, quieter affair with more personal touches than grand fanfare. Here is a review of the headpieces and tiaras that attended this event and a look at the formal wedding portraits.

  1. Hat Queen, what a very busy weekend you had and a huge Thank You for all your hard work. All the pictures and information was out standing. My favorite 2 royals are Prince George and Princess Estelle, both stole the show, and what cuties they are. PG has grown so much and he is going to be a very handsome young man like his dad and wow has PE grown also. She was the perfect little princess in this wedding, her hair has grown and she shows already how intelligent she is….love this child. Queen Max was the best dressed royal out there with those diamonds and rubies……..wow she took my breath away. Love QM/Denmark also………….love this lady. Now there were tiaras but no hats……….next time!

  2. I was most taken with the outfit worn by the Mother of the Bride. I thought the shade of blue was absolutely stunning and the dress hung beautifully. There was just the right amount of lace and the plain sweep of fabric around the waist was flattering and pulled the whole look together. The length of the sleeves was also very elegant. She looked very at ease, which was enviable, surrounded by all that bling and couture and grandeur. In other words, Mum held her own!!! Well done her…….and well done Hat Queen- wonderful coverage. Thankyou so much.

  3. These photos look a little funny because of the busy carpet.

I wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you did writing up this wedding. I really enjoyed reading it and even watched the wedding on the youtube link! The music was terrible but the couple looked very happy. And Princess Estelle was so cute!

  4. Can’t say they picked a great backdrop for the pics! All the amazing spaces in the palace and they hung a bed sheet in front of a really busy carpet! Photographer could have done better than that – both Victoria and Madeleine had much better, and the flowers everywhere else were spectacular, such a shame they didn’t feature more.

Oh well – everyone looks very happy!

    • The formal shots are a real disappointment. Totally flat.

GREAT coverage, the best of any royal blog out there. Great job!

    • I agree re the photos. If it was anyone else you’d say they had planned outdoor photos but it started to rain so in a hurry this is what they did in the living room. The colour of the backdrop is draining the colour from everyone’s faces and the carpet is distracting.

Everyone seemed so happy at the wedding and afterwards, it was genuinely a fun and moving affair (I watched with the sound off because of the lateness of the hour here so can’t comment on the music).

Thanks so much for getting the pix up so fast HatQueen. It’s been so much fun to see everyone in their finery.
