Danish Queen Visits Holiday Village

On Monday, Queen Margrethe visited the Queen’s Holiday Village in Grenaa to celebrate its 25th anniversary. For the occasion, which saw the unveiling of a mosaiac in her likeness by artist Mads Hjorth, she repeated a beige hat. A sort of stylised fedora, the rounded and sloping sides of the crown of this piece abruptly end in a squared off top. While from a closeup view the hat seems all right, from a distance the shape is clunky and awkward. Paired with a beige suit, the ensemble is very bland and makes me yearn for Margrethe’s usual approach to colour (lots of it, from head to toe).

The mosaiac of Her Majesty is wonderful but the hat… not so much.

  1. I don’t like the shape of this hat on her and beige doesn’t flatter her. I am also worried about the beige and blue combination. I agree with HQ that the mosaiac of Her Majesty is wonderful.

  2. Sadly, she reminds me of my 5th grade teacher on playground duty during recess! Beige is boring on everyone, I think, especially a monarch.

  3. Ooh, I think the Danish Monarch looks fine! I like this hat on her….and I don’t always say that! So that’s a start and I’m okay with the beige look because she has endeavoured to jazz it up with some colour at the neck like she has done all the other times she wore this ensemble. I actually think this a fairly good overall look for QM. Thanks.

  4. Queen Margrethe’s hat looks like a cowboy hat to me, and this shade of beige is the blandest yet! It looks like she is wearing culottes. Awful!
