The family of Zara Phillips were out to cheer her on this weekend at the Whatley Manor International Horse Trials held at Gatcombe Park, her mother’s country estate. On Friday, Princess Anne, in a casual canvas bucket hat, took to the course with her two elder granddaughters, Savannah and Isla.
On Saturday, Princess Anne donned a tweed newsboy cap to show youngest granddaughter, 20 month old Mia Tindall, around the event. While a little bulbous, I think this is a great country hat for this hands-on royal grandmother.
This event was one on Zara Phillips’ road to the 2016 Rio Olympics and the talented equestrienne looked focused and confident on the course.

Royal Hats 
Princess Anne does country looks like this so well, though I do prefer her in uniform. She also puts in a solid effort often in evening wear with a tiara and an upswept hairstyle. She seems such a genuine caring lady and a doting mum and granny. Those children are cutie pies!

I am a huge fan of the Princess Royal, and she does the casual British countryside look well usually, but that second hat is just too bulbous. The children are very cute and it’s obvious they adore their grandma and she adores them back.
I so agree with your comment for I am also a huge fan of Princess Royal, I think she would of made a great queen. I have always been a fan of most of her hats even when they are decades old. I love her layered look, she seems so in her element with the grandchildren and horses.

I love the layered look that Princess Anne has, especially the 2nd set of pictures; such a wonderfully English country look. And what a beautiful shot of the horse in the last picture! I try at times to mix my jacket, shirt, and tie in different patterns, like the typical English country gent, with varied levels of success. Any hints or suggestions out there?
