Queen Máxima was in Rotterdam yesterday to open a new building for fish merchant Schmidt Zeevis. For this event, the Queen repeated her much worn charcoal grey velvet felt slice hat. We have seen Máxima wear this piece on numerous occasions (and with six different ensembles) but for me, this outing reminded what a great shape and scale it is. Máxima sometimes over-accessorizes her outfits but the pairing of her smoky quartz button earrings was perfect with this hat

Royal Hats 
It is good to see the Queen out and about. She looks lovely. I’ve always loved this hat on her.

This hat shape is one of Queen Máxima’s most successful ones, and it is one of my favourites. I am not sure that I am crazy about it being paired with the beige. I think it’s most successful outing was being paired with orange.
Love this hat! However I don’t like beige and gray together. The burgundy/brownish accents of shoes/gloves/purse further distract me and cause me to look in too many directions. All that being said – I like the shape of the outfit, her hair looks good, and Max’s smile always wins the day.

Yep. Like this. This is a great hat shape on Max – which she knows as she’s almost getting Queen Mum like in her devotion to it. I like how she makes neutrals fabulous. As we’ve said before – it’s because she just always looks like she’s having so much fun whatever she’s doing. She shares that, as well as her favourite hat shape, with the Queen Mum!

I adore all of these hats, and this charcoal grey is especially beautiful. What I find odd is, except for the jewelry and handbag, everything is the same from the last time she wore this hat in March 2015 in Germany; it’s rare to see Máxima repeat an entire ensemble like this. Her hair looks much better this time though and the earrings are great, but I’m still not sold on this outfit, especially the camel coat (the bouquet of flowers is rather distracting as well). A better appearance than last time, but some messy details still.
She even manages to make a white lab coat look chic! I do love this hat.
