Queen Máxima of the Netherlands was at the Keukenhof Flower Show in Lisse yesterday to present the 2016 Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs horticulture award. For this event, she repeated her large black felt Garbo hat (a hat many of you will recognize as one of your ten finalists for favourite new royal hat of 2015).
Photos yesterday show the grandly sloped brim of this piece and this shape, combined with the large scale, gives this hat such drama. Máxima certainly wears it well.
I can’t help cheekily wondering if this hat’s outing today was a subtle ploy for additional votes in our best new hat of 2015 contest. I love to think that this queen, whose bold millinery style keeps us on our toes and is one of our favourites to watch, is having such fun with us.

Royal Hats 
So great to have another outing for this fantastic hat! I like that it’s not being used purely as a funeral hat, and her whole ensemble here is beyond chic! I’m very glad we got to see more angles of the hat this time around, and I love it even more than the first time. Brava!
P.S. If I found out my opinions were being considered by royalty and nobility, I don’t even know how I would react!
The Queen looks great. This hat deserves to be in the Top Ten! I was surprised that a few of her other hats didn’t make it in too.
Queen Máxima looks fantastic from head to toe. The black and white outfit is the perfect choice for a Flower Show, so you stand out from all the blooms. This hat looks perfect on her, and I think it’s one of the best hats she has ever worn. I wonder if she does read this blog? This hat is definitely going to be the winner, or at least in the top three, of the best hats poll.
Queen Maxima is so stylish in this hat! It’s a perfect pairing with the rest of the outfit!

LOL. That hat queen was my instant thought …someone close to the Queen had read this blog. It. Is probably close to the best if not the best hat she has ever worn. She can miss but this is her winner.
I think the Belgium Queen is also a great dresser. I have great respect for Princess Alexandra. Lady Louise is up and coming.

I would love to find out that Max reads this! I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the royals, or perhaps their dressers do read the royal blogs, though sometimes some of our opinions might be in welcome!
Anyway this hat – as ever I love Max in a big dramatic hat, and this is an elegant and somewhat subdued look for her. I just find I can’t get the image of Guy Fawkes out of my mind!
