I suspect that wonderful hat was quite light to wear! Straw and silk flowers, perhaps?
That is one amazing hat…
Oh my that is quite the hat.
I think Angela Kelly would like this hat.
I always enjoy HatQueen’s Hat From The Past articles. It is amazing how much fashions change over the years. I wonder how Queen Mary could tolerate those huge hats, tight corsets, high, constrictive necklines and chokers, and heavy jewels!
I assume that’s the king with her? Looks like him, anyway. I’m amused by how he couldn’t seem to hold his face still enough for the camera to make a clear exposure while she, even with a huge pile of flowers balanced on her head and a tightly-laced corset restricting her airflow, stayed perfectly composed.
Hihi, looks like she has a flowerpot on her head 😛
Typical Queen Mary – go big or go home!
Looks as though someone lifted the centerpiece from a table decoration on to the Queen’s head. Amazing hat!
That is an amazing hat! Crazy, to our modern eyes, but still amazing…
Image the breeze it would catch out at sea!
Oh, my! Even by the standards of the period, this one looks excessive.
At least you can see it…wink.
Just imagine how much that hat weighed! Someone got carried away with her glue gun……
Goodness gracious!
Looks rather like the hat presented to the Duchess of Cornwall the other day, just with a brim.
and standing straight and looking regal, different times how fascinating
I wonder just how much it weighed.
That is incredible.
