My deepest thanks again to Irish milliner Fiona Mangan, American milliner Jill Courtemanche and Australian milliner Christie Murray for joining us for Ascot week again this year. Their millinery expertise has added so much to the conversation and given us a comprehensive review of all the hats. These milliners are each as lovely as they are talented and it has been my great honour to have them join us.
Thank you for the stupendous coverage, it made Ascot so much more enjoyable!
Thank you so much for all your effort this past week! (Two weeks really). You are so wonderful to dedicating so much time and energy to providing us such great coverage (and so quickly) for these big events. I know it’s a ton of work, but it really is wonderful to to read the in-depth analysis. Thanks again for spoiling us all!!
It’s been so much fun following your Ascot posts, HatQueen, and your leadup posts too, I feel spoiled. Reading about Chicago Chuck’s first hand experience has been a treat (looking forward to his follow-up instalment); and your panel of experts – Fiona, Jill and Christie – have provided wonderfully informative and insightful comments. Hope everyone can all join in again next time. Thanks for everything!
Thank you for all your hard work in bringing us the Ascot reports…your hard work is appreciated.
That was fun for me but so much work for you. I so appreciated seeing the Queen is the lovely watermelon coulored hat adorned with feathers.
Thank you for everything you did to make it a great week for us.
Looking at this summary of royal hats worn at Royal Ascot 2016, my favourites are:
1. Princess Mary’s vertical saucer hat with large rose trim (from Day 2)
2. Duchess of Cambridge’s woven saucer hat with refined trim (from Day 2)
3. Princess Eugenie’s woven conical hat with feature trim either side of the brim (from Day 3)
4. HM Queen Elizabeth’s watermelon straw hat with feather trim (from Day 4)
5. Princess Eugenie’s black straw picture hat decorated with pearls (from Day 5)
6. Princess Beatrice’s navy slice hat with silk flower trim either side of the brim (from Day 5)
Never would have though Princess Eugenie would make my favourites list twice, she definitely deserves an award for ‘most improved royal hat wearer’!
I agree about Eugenie and Beatrice, too. So nice to see them in hats rather than perchers. They are not petite women and a more substantial hat is definitely better scale. I loves both their Day 5 hats.
Most enjoyable, thank you. I’m feeling a little deflated that it’s all over for another year – you have spoiled us.
A big Thank You for the wonderful coverage of Royal Ascot 2016. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and hope you had as much fun putting it all together, as we had reading and commenting!
Another year of stellar coverage and some marvelous hats. HM’s hats on Days 3 and 4 are in my top five for certain. Princess Haya on Day 3, Crown Princess Mary Day 2 and Duchess of Cornwall Day 1. Scrumptious. Thank you to all.
Thank you so much to all hands for the great coverage of this most interesting event! (Day 4 was definitely my favorite day for almost everyone.)
Thanks to everyone for such a thorough discussion of hats and of Ascot. Special thanks go not just to the Hat Queen, of course, but also to Chicago Chuck for all the commentary — as well as to those who “modeled” the hats for the rest of us to gaze at!
Thanks for the great coverage – it was a great week of hats!
So many surprises this year: orange for HM, TWO new hats for Princess Anne, the appearance of CP Mary…thanks again, HatQueen and guest milliners, for your wonderful coverage!
