The Duchess of Cornwall was in Aldershot yesterday to welcome back soldiers of 4th Battalion The Rifles returning from deployment to Iraq (she is the regiment’s Royal Colonel). For this event, which took place outdoors in miserable weather, Camilla repeated her black wool hat with ruched crown and faux fur brim. It is a great hat for drizzly days and coordinates really well with this military-inspired coat.

Any thoughts on this well worn hat on the Duchess yesterday?

Royal Hats 
She could really do with losing this coat – the fit is off, the sleeves are too short and the fabric is looking rather worn and shabby, it has that ‘caught in the rain’ once too often look about it. In fact the hat and coat have both seen better days and should be lost or relegated to the mudroom and used for dog walking or gardening.
Despite the informality and all the repetition of this hat (and its twins), I think it looks perfect for this occasion and with this coat.

Love that she seems to be enjoying herself in spite of the weather. As long as she doesn’t wear this to anymore funerals/memorial services, she can wear this as many times as she likes. I do like it best with this coat.
Is it possible to have any more thoughts on this?! It’s perfectly fine for a good country walk, but just a bit too slouchy for an engagement. This is one of her better ‘showerproof’ hats, but enough already!
I think I’ll leave this hat for end of the week round up posts in future…. there really isn’t much more to say about it.

Yeah – I hate to say it (because I love Camilla!) but this and it’s brethren are just a bit of a yawfest. Which is a shame, because she’s such a fabulous hat wearer generally…

I like this hat and it seems so appropriate for the weather and occasion..it goes well with the lovely green coat Camilla is wearing.
I go back and forth on this hat. I like it, I don’t like it, I don’t know! It looks great on her and it does go well with this coat, so for now, I like it. I would like it much better without the ruching, but that’s just me.
