Members of the Swedish Royal Family gathered in Stockholm today to honour the four victims (and 15 people who were injured) of last week’s terrorist attack. King Carl Gustaf led the family in a black trilby hat.
Queen Silvia repeated her black felt cloche with wide velvet hatband, knotted at the side.
Crown Princess Victoria repeated her Garbo hat in black rabbit fur felt with gently curved brim. The hat is simply trimmed with a Petersham ribbon hatband and rough edged bow, which Victoria wore at the back (as opposed to the front, where we saw it last time).

Princess Sofia wore some sort of black bowed headpiece, anchored in her chignon
Previously Worn: I think it is new
Such simple, classic hat shapes work well for such events as these, don’t they?
I appreciate the royal family coming out in force, representing, rallying their people. That’s what monarchies are for, these days. I appreciate that it is utterly heartfelt by the royal family, and that they grieve with the citizens of their country.
The hats are perfect. All of them.
So very sad for the Country and people and the Royal Family.
Yes, “simple, classic hat shapes” is just the right comment for this somber occasion, Hat Queen.
Nice to see the post lead off with a royal man’s hat for once! Carl Gustaf looks great in his fedora, and I’m very happy the men are finally representing a little more.
The brim on Silvia’s cloche seems to be not quite as refined as it was at Fabiola’s funeral, but it’s still a nice hat for her.
Victoria’s hat is much improved with the bow in the back and the gently sloping brim is very flattering for her.
Sofia did Sofia, but I’m disappointed we didn’t get something a little more substantial.
Everyone looks suitably turned out for this very sad event! I am partial to the large picture hat Victoria wore and I do prefer the bow in the back. I also must say I liked her wide belt. Silvia as always looks picture perfect, the hat is great, a nice change of pace from what she usually wears. Sofia’s chignon with adornment looks appropriate. The classic, simple hats fit the occasion well.
Everyone looks very nice. Queen Silvia always looks so regal! Of course, I feel weird commenting about their appearances at an event like this… so sad.
I also feel weird posting such events… hence the lack of much ‘opinionizing’.
All the hats were great. They were appropriate and flattering; my favorite was the Queen’s cloche hat. I would wear that hat in any color.
All work well for this somber event
