It’s more interesting in the front view, isn’t it? The wavy effect makes me think of hats CP Mary has worn recently. This style was well suited to the young Maragrethe, even if it doesn’t look very royal.a
These Hats From the Past have been wonderful so far, HQ! What a treat to have them for a whole month!
Love the flashbacks. So very young Margarethe with her romantic hat.
The 1970’s….the era of bad taste.
This floppy hat is so very seventies! how many brides and bridesmaids of that era wore a hat like this as they walked down the aisles? too many to think about.

I have a weakness for this style –although i do think its youthful romanticism is best paired with a pretty dress (for the races or a garden party) rather than a suit, as Queen M. is doing here. Below is probably a front view (note the spiky leaf trim on Margrethe’s left in both pics), possibly taken on the same day – both are credited as May 1974.
Great catch- I’m not sure the photos were taken the same day (the lapels and shoulder seams on the coats appear to be different) but that certainly looks like the same hat. It’s great to see a front view.
