Queen Margrethe visited the Home Guard at Skive Barracks and the Citadel in Copenhagen yesterday to present two regiments with new colours. For these events, she repeated her vibrant turquoise hat with domed, indented Pork Pie style crown. I have long thought this hat’s success is due to its wide, darker blue velvet hatband which injects contrasting colour and texture to the otherwise one note ensemble. It’s amazing how a simple hatband can make such a difference.
Today, the Danish Queen boarded the royal yacht Dannebrog for the first time this season. She used the occasion to debut a new hat in navy felt with rounded crown, gently raised U-shaped brim and wide silk hatband with tied bow at the side. The neutral piece is a good addition to Margrethe’s hat closet and one we’ll undoubtedly see again during this year’s summer cruises.

I really like both hats, but especially the lighter blue-turquoise one (came out as blue on my screen). I think that hats with a wider brim like these two look so much better on Her Majesty than the smaller, compact, brimless hats do.
Two very nice hats indeed. I especially like the gold earrings and brooch with the sky blue hat, and the navy blazer and scarf with the navy felt one. Margrethe is certainly the boss of the pussy bow!
The sky blue hat is one of my favorites for Margrethe. Nice to see more than one hat goes with this coat, and I like them both!
The new hat is excellent! I must say, Margrethe can have the neck kerchief or the red cape, but she can’t have both; they just clash too much!
She wears a strong brim very well. I much prefer these to her usual bumper hats.
The light blue hat is very pretty and the dark blue hat band makes the outfit. The coat is fantastic. I love its shape. Her new navy blue hat is a good shape and a great style for HM.
Queen Margrethe looks wonderful in the bright blue hat with matching coat. The new navy hat is very smart.
Both of these hats are very attractive on QM. I much prefer them to her beanie style ones.
Two nice hats for the queen. I especially like the bright blue color of her hat and coat. Tough to walk gracefully and inspect the troops while walking on cobblestones!
The video shows that there was indeed a bit of wobble on the cobble…but the queen did not turn a hair, not once looking down. A true professional.

I agree with Hat Queen. I think we will see this new hat a lot, and that is a good thing, it is neutral but stylish.
