Princess Margriet, Pieter van Vollenhoven and Prince Pieter-Christiaan attended a similar ceremony at the Military War Cemetery Grebbeberg near Rhenen. Princess Margriet repeated her wide brimmed black straw hat trimmed with a simple black hatband and what looks to be large, almost abstract straw leaves on the side. The hat has undergone a renovation since its first outing, when the trim also included black feathers.

Simple, elegant, and classic hat.
Máxima looks very elegant here. It must’ve been quite chilly in the Netherlands to be dressed so warmly; that said, I like the simplicity of how she did the scarf and how it frames her overall look very nicely.
It’s a bit odd to see Margriet wearing a coat with fur/faux fur on it, and a sinamay straw hat. Nevertheless I really like this hat and am glad for it’s return, although I did not remember it’s last outing and the feathers; I do remember seeing it earlier than 2014 on a visit to Canada, but image searches are coming up blank for me at the moment. Will try to dig deeper.
Aha! Calgary, 14 May 2010. I knew I had seen it before (and that time there was no feathers either): http://www.ppe-agency.com/preview.php?start=2500&id=46422&zoektype=1&search=Princess Margriet
Queen Máxima also wore this hat for the Prix de Rome 2015 (17 dcember 2015) so this is already it’s sixth outing (with six different outfits, so definitely a contender for ‘This or That’!
Thanks Emma- it is indeed the hat’s sixth outing.
Queen Maxima’s pillbox hat – elegant, restrained, without flamboyance – strikes exactly the right note for these occasions.
