Now THAT’S Regal with a capital R! After seeing a certain picture of a bear skin hat, I too, can’t help but smile/giggle at it. They look like they weigh a ton! And talk about hat-hair!

That photo is nothing short of spectacular! I love it!
She has a reputation for her style, and this image reflects that. Are those the pearls we saw on Queen Sonja during the birthday celebration?
Wonderful hat and clothing except for the fox stole. I love anything from the glamorous thirties, and have been known to scope out old movies just to see the clothes. Some of them were fabulous.
I was fortunate enough to see a retrospective of Queen Maude’s wardrobe at the V and A Museum several years ago. What exquisite workmanship and beautiful clothing and accessories! I was so enchanted That I bought the companion book and recommend it highly to anyone interested in such things. Coincidentally I had it out only yesterday looking at it. Hat Queen, you must be psychic!
I lucked out an saw the same exhibition at the V&A. The detail and workmanship was really astounding- it gave me a much greater appreciation for royal fashion of that era. Not a single thing was ready to wear.
The queen wore that (very flattering) hat with some verve. Very nice photo.
(Edward VIII, not Edward XIII) The Prince of Wales as he was then is wearing the Uniform of the Welsh Guards.
