Paola is only 22 in this photo but the outfit seems quite matronly.
I love this hat, too! The rest of the ladies seem to be wearing very small head pieces, except the nanny. I would guess the nanny’s head piece is just for formal occasions.
I love it! Very flattering and would look perfect today.
At first glance, the hat didn’t appeal to me, but the more I look, the more I love it. I find it fascinating that Princess Paola isn’t holding her own baby.
So beautiful! love the asymmetry and the pleating? under the brim.
I think this hat looked great on Paola; I wonder if the crown fits over a beehive hairstyle better, because it looks quite small in terms of head size and sits rather high on her head. Wish we knew what colors she was wearing! Also, I have a vintage hat in a similar shape, although not as wide of a brim, in orange; it’s one of my favorite vintage hats I have, but it runs very small.
A very strange hat, but somehow Paola carries it off. I am also fascinated by the Nanny’s headpiece. I wonder if she wore it all the time while attending to the baby, or just at formal occasions,
