Queen Mathilde was in Argenteuil this morning to present awards to winners of the Queen Elisabeth – Cello 2017 Competition. For this event, she repeated her pale grey rounded edge pillbox hat with knotted bow trim on the back. This hat is a great pairing with her pale blue dress – a larger or more elaborate hat would overwhelm the dress and the two pieces combine here to create a soft ensemble that seems very well suited to the Belgian queen.

A typically elegant ensemble for this queen who is always immaculately dressed.
This is a gorgeous hat. I like it best with Th Queen’s hairstyle of June 12, 2016, which doesn’t have a side part.
But my taste in pillboxes is clearly changing, now that I’ve seen a few larger pillbox styles in recent times (thank you so much Hatqueen!) This one suddenly looks a tad small.
My favorite pairing with this hat is the coat and dress in June 2016, because the twisted fabric effect on the waist of the dress mimics the hat’s “bow” and the color seems identical. However the hat does work well with the other two outfits; I think because it is so pale and the bow so thin that it matches the spider web like effect on the first coat and the gossamer fabric of this dress. Very interesting clothing designs with a versatile sweet little hat.
Se looks lovely! I’m really interested in the fabric of her dress, however – anyway of finding out who the dress is by?
It’s Natan.
You can recognize Natan by the misplaced darts on the bodice!
A versatile if unassuming hat, this pillbox goes again with another outfit. It’s understated but regal.
This is lovely, hat and dress together on such a beautiful queen.
She looks great. Her clothes, makeup, hair, and jewelry are understated. She makes it look so easy.
A great ensemble! Understated yet elegant, a wonderful look for her!
