  1. I like this hat a lot! If I could restyle it, I would take off the purple puffs and replace them with small purple leaves (or feathers or something). I would also rearrange the drape on the right side of the hat. I would like it to swirl down from the crown. Just my two cents! 🙂

  2. The Queen wore this to Prince Philip’s 80th birthday celebration at Windsor, and at the time I thought it was a subtle green to match her coat.

  3. I like the fabric draping, but the crown is too high and the brim too low, leading to a lampshade impression unfortunately.

  4. I agree, the hat looks “heavy” when worn too far forward – it’s much better worn further back.
I don’t think this was ever an easy hat trend to wear for any person of average or short height. The combination of height plus width, plus a pronounced vertical thickening of the brim (is there a technical term for that?) gives an impression of overall bulk, which I feel tends to overwhelm.
So, not my fave for HM. However, I adore the colour scheme, and the trim is delightful. On another wearer, I could definitely love it.

      • Nice find Jimbo! Commemoration Day, I see.
With this hat being worn 2 years in succession, HM demonstrates her most common repeat pattern. Right on form.

  5. I really like these draped hats she flirted with in the early noughties. This bears a resemblabce to the pink one we’ve all admired so long. Only thing here is it’s a bit too far forward. I could have sworn this did Trooping duty one year but I can’t find pics. Whenever, it was worn again one time, with better placement.
