The exhibition “The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture” opens tomorrow at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. The opening will include several floor talks and a conversation with British millinery Stephen Jones who will share stories about his 20 years spent designing hats for Dior. Contact the museum for tickets.

While some wonderful Autumn/Winter 2017 are starting to catch my eye, I can’t ignore these wonderful and very summery hats:

Calot draped in seafoam silk mousseline from Fabienne Delvigne
Chic and casual straw hats from California based Gladys Tamez
Striking graphic cocktail hats from Melbourne based Jo Mareen Millinery
Lovely silk abaca trimmed disc with net veil brim from Spanish milliner Biliana Borissova
Classic Tiffany natural straw hat with pink silk roses from Fabienne Delvigne with a matching pink straw clutch

and this wonderful design by Melbourne based Louise MacDonald  with mushroom brim and exquisite flying metallic straw bow.

  1. Queen Silvia looks great in National Dress! I can’t get enough of it!

Good for PMarie – what a wonderful movement to get behind!

Dior’s “New Look” was so lovely…I wish it would come back!

  2. Queen Sonja seems like such a happy and genuine person. It must be a delight to know her.

I’m not ready for fall, either, HatQueen. Those Jo Mareen graphic hats are stunning, and I can seem them as transitioning the seasons. I also love the trimmed disc from Biliana Borissova. Splendid look from Louise MacDonald, too.

Good for Princess Marie — in my household, we think leftovers make the best lunches.

  3. Char always looks so happy with her children! I love the jam session–what an unusual treat from the royals! Tatiana and Nicholas look like they are still very much in love! Sonja is such a delight–how nice to Sylvia looks like she fits right in! Oh, to be able to go to the Dior display!

  4. A Dior exhibition in Melbourne? having seen “Dior and I” when it came out (BTW, everyone with an interest in fashion or art should see that documentary), I am seriously thinking of attending. Thanks for the headsup HQ. The Stephen Jones clip is excellent.
My faves of your recent hat picks:
The FDV – maybe we’ll see it on Q Mathilde!
    Red disc from Biliana Borissova
Black/Navy? Dior hat from Louise MacDonald
