Princess Beatrix Opens Cultural Center

Princess Beatrix was in Tiel today to officially open the Zinder cultural center for music, dance, theater, art, literature and information. For this event, she repeated a so-dark-it’s-almost-black inky navy blue straw brimless hat with a bumper style brim made of multiple layers of wrapped straw.

The hat is so typical of Princess Beatrix’s millinery style that it’s easy to overlook how unique the design is. And it’s lovely on her. I can’t think of many other royals who could successfully carry it but on her, it really works.

  1. She likes what she likes!

In the fourth pic down, I think that lady is reaching for a handy snack that Princess Bea keeps stored up there…

    • JamesB, I thought the lady was dropping a marble into the hat, to watch it go down like in the Mouse Trap Game, or the attached picture!
      Happy weekend, everyone!

    • JamesB and Jimbo, your comments cracked me up! I hope I’m not a wet blanket if I share the actual description that I found on Pinterest:
“Lady in Waiting Annemijn Crince Le Roy van Munster Heuven removes confetti from the hat of Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands opens the cultural center Zinder for music, dance, theater, art, literature and information on October 26, 2017 in Tiel, Netherlands.”

Aside from the total ungrammaticalness of that sentence, not to mention my own audacity at coining the word ungrammaticalness, I think Lady in Waiting Annemijn etc deserves some sort of award just for having the most awesome name I’ve seen online in a long time!
