British Royals Support Victoria & George Cross Association

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, attend a Service at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square this morning in support of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association (the Prince is President of the Association).  For this event, Camilla repeated her pale grey straw hat with upswept brim and giant ostrich feather wrap around the crown.

There’s not much to say here- we’ve seen the hat several times and it’s pairing today, with a taupe, grey and cream floral dress and a taupe coat (with beautiful braided trim), isn’t exactly a standout. For a hat in its 12th year of service, however, this piece is solid. The lines are classic and the hat looks as fashionably relevant today as it did at its debut – proof of good design, I’d say.

At an event that honours recipients of the highest military and civilian awards for bravery, this hat fit the perfect balance of formality without becoming the star attraction. What do you think?

  1. I really love this entire ensemble. The colors and textures make her look ethereal, and every detail is exquisite and goes well together. More colorful outfits can be lovely too, but honestly this is just pure elegance to me!

  2. It’s a great hat on her, I think. The outfit as a whole is not very attention-grabbing, particularly colour-wise, but it’s a good look despite its subdued nature.
Side note: I was confused by “The Prince of Wales and President of the Duchess of Cornwall,”. Is he the President of the association?

  3. This won’t ever be my favorite hat for Camilla, but it has always been solidly reliable and she wears it so well. To date, this is my favorite choice of outfit to go with this hat, and it looks to be a new pairing!
