We continue our look at the floral themed hats and headpieces worn at Princess Adrienne’s christening with those worn by her grandmothers, aunts and cousins. Queen Silvia topped her pale grey silk wool cloqué embossed floral dress with a padded headpiece in the same fabric. While the design looks like a pillbox or calot hat from the front, back and side views confirm it is an open ring with geometric shaped back.
I’ve written before my thoughts on this style of headpiece- I’m not a particular fan. This one is not helped by the bland colour or the distinct pattern of the cloqué fabric, which ties it to the dress to a degree that a ‘matchy-matchy’ label feels inevitable. The dress is beautiful and I wonder how it might have paired with a smart straw hat instead.

Previously Worn: This headpiece is new
Crown Princess Victoria topped her floral dress with a cream tri-ringed headpiece trimmed with large beige and cream silk cabbage roses. We’ve seen Victoria in two twins of this piece (see here and here), all which link to the headpiece Queen Silvia wore in August 1970 for Prince Carl Philip’s christening. While she wears the design well, it makes a lovely nostalgic nod and it fit the floral theme of yesterday’s event, three versions of such a distinctive style is enough for me – I’d love to see something different on Victoria.

Previously Worn: this hat is new
Princess Sofia wore a large ecrcu silk floral headpiece tucked behind her left ear. It’s a pretty design, albeit nondescript design that paired especially well with her drop pearl earrings, relaxed chignon and floral dress.

Chris’ sister Tatjana d’Abo wore an embellished gold headband while her daughter, Anouska, who was named as one of Princess Adrienne’s godparents, wore a Philip Treacy designed pink straw percher with lace trimmed veil. Chris’ other sister, Countess Natascha Abensperg und Traun, also wore a Philip Treacy design (silk flowers made by Anfisa Korelova). Her domed grey straw percher is trimmed with pink and white handmade silk flowers, green silk leaves and grey feathers.
Royal Hats 
I am actually a fan of Siliva’s hat. I like the way it looks like a pillbox style from the front and then we see something interesting at the back. The fabric color is good to me as well, especially with her dark hair. To me this is understated elegance. When most are wearing something that is not a hat (headband, flowers etc) this is the way to go and still look regal.
I like Sofia’s large flower with her dress. I just wish the hair was a bit neater.
Next on my love list would be Mrs. O’Neil. This is also a simple yet elegant headpiece!
Victoria is a simple no all the way around! Sorry!
I just cannot with Sylvia and Victoria here. I don’t care for open crown hats or headbands, so really don’t care for their two pieces of millinery. Mrs. O’Neill’s hairpiece is lovely, it reminds me a bit of some of the things Camilla wears. I’m glad to see so many royal-adjacents wearing hats/headpieces, but I confess none really jump out at me.
There’s a reason Eva O’Neill’s headpiece reminds you of those worn by the Duchess of Cornwall- I’m pretty sure it is also from Philip Treacy!
Silvia’s donut hat is a solid no from me; actually, in this color and material, the design says more “pretzel” to me.
Oh my, Victoria’s dress certainly is busy, and this headpiece does nothing to help it. Another solid no from me.
While Sofia’s floral hair piece is pretty informal, she is styled very well from head-to-toe. If you’re going to keep it simple and lowkey, this is how to do it.
Eva O’Neill bandeau is a fun headpiece that works well for her, but in a couple of photos, one of the “petals” seems to be coming over her forehead; get that piece secure, and it would be perfect.
Chris’ sisters all looked fine in their hats/headpieces, but they didn’t stand out to me. The base of Anouska’s hat is great, and the lace detailing is certainly of good quality, but the way the veil falls is all wrong. Countess Natascha looked fantastic in her cocktail percher.
Not a fan of that bandage-looking thing on CP Victoria. It is also a busy headpiece for that busy dress.
though I don’t mind an open crown, I have to say both Sylvia’s and Victoria’s headpieces leave me appreciating Christina’s hat even more.
I liked Sylvia’s hat until I found out it was an open crown. It looks great from the front and is a “no” from the back. Chris’s niece Anouska’s hat intrigued me with that low net veil. It shouldn’t work, but it looked stylish on her. I really liked Countess Natasha’s hat. If it isn’t bespoke I would be amazed at the color match. I am not sure I like Eva’s bandeau. I would like to see it from different angles and in motion before I make a final judgement.
