Royal Hats to this day, 38 years ago today, when Queen Elizabeth re opened the John Power Hall in St James’s Square in this tasseled tam ‘o shanter with contrast stitching and itty-bitty cap brim.

  1. I found two other earlier outings for your “enjoyment.” For some reason, I wasn’t expecting yellow as the color. I assumed a white hat with red stitching, since it reminds me of a baseball!

    • Wow Jimbo. So that dress was brown, yellow and cream – and the hat’s stitching and tassel are brown. Such a nineteen-sixties colour scheme, as Elizabeth Davies notes in the comments.
      HM’s handbag is brown too, so I bet her shoes were brown as well. A rare occurrence, I’m guessing. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for any other instances of HM wearing brown accessories!

  2. Oh, dear!! This hat is very unfortunate, to say the least………..how could anyone let HM go out wearing this?? Maybe it looked better in real life………..
