Queen Margrethe was in Sønderborg yesterday to open the new Danish Rheumatism Hospital. For this event, she repeated her burgundy hat with upfolded, Breton style brim, trimmed with a pair of trimmed, striped feathers on the side. The brim shape on this design has always been unique, thanks to that single row of stitching that creates an almost hourglass shape around the crown.

Any thoughts about this hat?

Margrethe usually wears this style quite well, but something about this one, especially in this outing, makes her look more “bald”, as some hats do to her unfortunately. If it had more lavish trim, that may visually make the hat looks more significant, hence drawing eyelines away from her pulled-back hair. Overall it’s not a bad hat, but it could be improved.
I like the saturated burgundy color and unique shape that suits Daisy so well. I agree with HatQueen that the single row of stitching at the brim adds interest to this lovely winter hat. I also admire her blouse and brooch and matching handbag which makes a cohesive ensemble. Very nice overall.
I..like it, actually! solid color, unique, well placed: very Queen Margrethe II.
