Royal Hats to this day in 1984 when Queen Elizabeth wore a beautifully stitched teal blue tam ‘o shanter hat with ostrich feather trim by Simone Mirman while on a state visit to Jordan. Queen Noor’s black and white floral turban made and equally strong millinery style statement.

  1. The best thing about this ensemble is the color. Unfortunately, “frumpy” is the exact word that came to my mind also. HM wore the dress for her 1984 Christmas message, but she debuted it in Sweden.

  2. I’m sure the detailing on the hat is lovely, but the overall look is a somewhat frumpy one I’m afraid. It was her default in her mid years, before her look was updated around the millennium.

    At another engagement on this tour Queen Noor wore the most fabulous cerise and white striped turban that’s worth a look…
