to this day in 2002, seventeen years ago, that saw Princess Nobuko wear a wide-brimmed, cream straw hat wrapped in net veiling to open an exhibition celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Japanese Red Cross Society. It’s a far larger scale Imperial royal hat than we usually see these days and I’d love to see more of this!

more of this please, it looks great
I can appreciate the practical reasons for small-brimmed or brimless hats, but this is a great look for Princess Nobuko.
Is this still hiding in Nobuko’s closet? I hope so, and that she brings it back out soon! Her outfit is also lovely.
I really like this hat and would love to see her wear it again. Very chic outfit.
Nice.
Gorgeous – the whole outfit in fact is lovely. It’s almost as if an edict has been made that no larger brims may be worn now. I would love to see more variation in hat styles worn by the Imperial Family.
This is so much prettier that the more squat hats the Imperial Family usually wears. Too flashy for them?
In my opinion, the proportions of a large hat on a small person can be tricky. Also if everyone is taller than you, your face is virtually hidden under a large brim. But this looks really successful and I’d love to see more !
Wow, this is really lovely!
