1969, like in the UK they where challenging the traditional shape of hats, experimenting with different styles, some stand the test of time some don’t, As it is in black and white it is somehow hard to judge but Juliana pulls it off
My first thought : snakes on her head!
This brought Simone Mirman’s 1965 yellow spaghetti hat design for HM to mind: https://royalhats.net/2018/11/02/queen-elizabeths-iconic-hats/ Coincidence, or were string-trimmed helmets a trend in the late ‘60s? In any case, it seems that Dutch queens are fashion-fearless!
I remember this hat, HQ! you posted about it here https://royalhats.net/2017/09/22/hat-from-the-past-165/ Some colour pics are in the comments. Queen Juliana’s hat styles were something else….
Well… that’s a hat and a half! Would love to see it in colour!
My thought too! Maybe blue and yellow?
I seem to remember pictures of something blue/turquoise/greenish, but I may be complety wrong. What I found fascinating as a child were the butterflie glasses, in combination with the hats and the jewelry. Not always fiattering, but characteristic for Queen Juliana at that era.
Cat eyeglasses. I had a pair in second grade. Mother of pearl. I felt so beautiful in them…
Hah, mine were blue and in 4th grade!
I have large cat sunglasses right now!
