During the summer, British milliner Amy Morris-Adams shared a photo of several vintage hats she was working on updating, mending and retrimming. I really appreciated her approach to this, sewing each hat’s original labels back inside after the work was done.
Interestingly, Amy offered Royal Hats a teaser not only that these hats belonged to Princess Anne, but that we should keep our eyes open for them, soon. Any guesses which hats from Princess Anne’s wardrobe these might be?!
Photos from social media as indicated
Here’s one worn in 2018 and 2012 that could stand some re-trimming. Great color, but the shape is lost under the feather explosion.

Hmmm…to guess I would say Princess Anne needs a hat revamped for Remembrance Day as I can’t think of any other socially distanced Royal event she would attend requiring a hat. So I suggest this one for Remembrance Day in Belgium 2017:

Or maybe she’s just taking this time to revamp her hats for 2021. 🙂
Good guess… but we know Amy made that one!
Any requests you say…?!

Well… we’ll certainly recognize these if they are the ones!
I’m wondering about these two- the navy straw dates back to the mid 1990s (or older!) and the black John Boyd homberg dates back to at least 1969

Or maybe this one is the Otto Lucas?!

Although honestly I could imagine Anne still wearing either of those two unupdated!
These were the first two that came to my mind, although it’s interesting (assuming the labels in the post are for Anne’s hats) why the John Boyd hat wouldn’t be taken to their atelier, but maybe it’s just easier to get them all repaired by the same person (and perhaps thrifty Anne got a discount for bulk repairs haha). Curious to see what shows up and when!
I think these 2 are probably the correct choices HQ! She certainly favors them.
These would both be worth preserving!
Not royal hats, but while you’re in Amy’s Insta feed, be sure to scroll down a few entries and take a look at those exquisitely woven Panama hats from Ecuador!
The Panama hats are gorgeous !
Love those patterns!
I’ll admit that I’m a little confused, HQ. The link you provided takes us to Anne’s green inventory, so are the revamped hats in question all green?
My first guess would be John Boyd’s peacock feather painted hat. When we see them in the future, I really hope they’re on Anne’s head, and not in a display case.
Jimbo, my thought would be that if they were destined for a display case, she would be restoring them to their original appearance, not updating them, so like you I hope we see them on someone’s actual head when the work is done.
Jimbo, I think HQ was referring to the post by AmyHatsMillinery on the IG link.
Sorry Jimbo- I shared the link because Amy’s comment there offered the teaser. The only specifics known about the revamped hats are what we can surmise from the photo above.
