to November 20, 1972 and brimless hat covered in robin’s egg blue feathers and a side ostrich plume worn by Queen Elizabeth to celebrate her and the Duke of Edinburgh’s 25th wedding anniversary. With her silk coat with mink collar and cuffs, the Simone Mirman hat topped a wonderfully luxe ensemble that we’ve previously named as one of Her Majesty’s most iconic looks. See additional photos of the ensemble (the hat has faded, unfortunately) here at the Royal Collection Trust.

Beautiful! Maybe the brooches were already on her dress under the coat? They look like the Art Deco Boucheron clips. So pretty!
This is such a luxurious look isn’t it. The blue is fabulous and with the feathers and the fur so seasonal and beautiful; serious ice Queen vibes.
Some interesting hats from the rest of the family too, in particular Anne’s mass of magenta feathers looks intriguing. I also like how she had her brooch in her bag and popped it on her dress for lunch, as the coat had plenty going on already!
I didn’t notice the magically appearing brooch- well spotted!
I loved this look. The colour really suited HM and the ostrich feathers softened the helmet shape of the hat beautifully.
