The 2021 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony was held today at Oslo City Town Hall. Queen Sonja wore a new hat for the occasion, a black formed beret design overlaid with a dotted black veil.
The classic shape suits Sonja well and the dot-studded veil lends contrast, texture and visual interest, pairing beautifully with her aubergine velvet jacket.

Royal Hats 
I’m often somewhat indifferent to Sonja’s hats, but I do have to say that I like this one quite a bit. She is elegantly dressed for this important occasion.
Excellent hat, just the right amount of glamour.
The veil really elevates this, doesn’t it? This is a great addition to Sonja’s smallish hat wardrobe.
It still surprises me how the addition of one simple element – a veil in this case – can completely change the look of a hat.

I love it too: its compactness is its elegance, in my opinion (there’s a British saying “small but perfectly formed…”); the black foundation links the top part of her look with the bottom while the white dots/pearls on the veil cleverly tie in with her jewellery.
Love it! Sonja is such an elegant lady, and always looks so much younger than her years. This is a good addition to her closet, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing it a lot in years to come!
